EQA Process for Medical Laboratories
Registration
The EQA participation process begins with laboratory registration and enrollment in relevant proficiency testing schemes. Laboratories register online in proficiency testing scheme(s) aligned with their diagnostic services. Each proficiency testing costs PKR 45,000. Details of payment will be shared by email after online submission of form.
Sample Distribution and Testing
NEQAPP periodically distribute standardized proficiency testing samples that closely simulate patient specimens. Laboratories must analyze these samples using routine instruments, reagents, and standard operating procedures, without deviation from normal practice. This approach ensures that EQA assessments accurately reflect routine laboratory performance.
Result Submission and Performance Evaluation
Following analysis, laboratories submit test results within designated timelines using secure online reporting system. Performance evaluation is conducted through statistical comparison with target values and peer group results. Detailed performance reports are generated and can be downloaded from the website be entering login details.
Certification and Continuous Improvement
Successful completion of an proficiency testing cycle results in the issuance of a certificate of participation, serving as a formal evidence of analytical competence. Continuous participation in NEQAPP PT schemes enables laboratories to monitor long-term performance trends, maintain accreditation requirements, and enhance confidence in diagnostic results.
